‘Changing With The Seasons’

The changing nature of fresh produce supply has definitely been evident over the last 4 weeks. Cyclones, changing seasons, chronic labour shortages, and Covid lockdowns have all played their role in affecting supply and quality of fresh produce. Products which have been most adversely affected include all types of tomatoes, capsicums, beans, cucumbers, herbs and Royal Blue Potatoes. As far as fruit is concerned Melons (All types) and bananas have been the most negatively impacted from severe weather.

However as always there is plenty to be upbeat about. WA Citrus has really hit its straps. There are now good supplies of Navel Oranges, Mandarins, Lemons & Limes. Hass avocados from Queensland are in good supply and make for superb eating. We at InSeason are looking forward to providing our customers with specials on these products. Over the next few weeks we should see our local numbers of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries increasing. We are bursting at the seams to supplying our customers fresh picked new season berries.

For those chefs who are always searching for new delightful products to give them the “edge”, we are proud of the fact in conjunction with Lance McCloud, have persuaded Slavicek Farms to trial and produce “Petite Vegetables”. Rob Slavicek and Ivan Bakota are two recognisable names in the industry for setting the benchmark in superb quality. We have always been proud to distribute their silverbeet, radish and parsley. We are all very excited to be distributing their petite range very soon.

As per normal please feel free to contact myself (0488 108 867) or Liz (0421 374 611) for more detailed information and specials. – Micah.
